Solar — Photovoltaic — Net Metering

Solar arrays, engineered to the panel.

From 1 MWp rooftops to 150 MW utility-scale fields, Exa Engineering designs, validates, and oversees photovoltaic installations with the same structural rigor we bring to bridges — every rack, pile, and inverter pad calculated before ground is broken.

Solar Solutions

Three installation classes.

Every array is yield-modelled, wind-load tested, and grid-study cleared before the first pile is driven.

PV / UTL

Utility & Industrial

1–150 MW grid-tied fields and industrial arrays on driven-pile or ballasted foundations, with full geotechnical survey and P50/P90 energy modelling.

Typ. delivery 20–36 weeks
PV / COM

Commercial Rooftop

Rooftop systems engineered against the host structure's residual load capacity — never past it — with net-metering integration for homes and businesses.

Typ. delivery 8–14 weeks
PV / NET

Net Metering & Storage

Battery storage and net-metering co-located with PV — pad design, thermal management, and interconnection studies delivered as one package.

Typ. delivery 12–20 weeks

How We Deliver

From irradiance data to first energy.

Each stage closes with a written sign-off before the next begins — the same discipline as our structural practice.

STAGE 01

Resource & Site Study

Irradiance modelling, geotechnical borings, shading analysis, and interconnection screening.

STAGE 02

Array & Racking Design

Layout, pile-embedment design, string sizing, and P50/P90 yield certification.

STAGE 03

Construction Oversight

Pile-driving QA, torque verification, and IV-curve commissioning on every string.

STAGE 04

Monitoring & O&M

24/7 performance monitoring against the yield model, with annual thermographic inspection.

FAQ

Solar questions.

Anything else — the monitoring desk answers around the clock.

Do you install, or only engineer?+

We are the engineer of record and construction overseer. Installation is executed by vetted partners working to our drawings, with Exa Engineering field engineers verifying every stage — pile refusal, torque, and string commissioning included.

Can my roof or land take a solar array?+

That's the first thing we check. A structural residual-capacity assessment precedes any layout — if the roof or ground can't carry the system through its design life, we say so before you spend anything on modules.

Do you handle net metering?+

Yes. We handle net-metering applications and interconnection studies end-to-end for residential, commercial, and industrial systems, plus environmental compliance.

What happens after commissioning?+

The array feeds our 24/7 monitoring desk. Underperformance against the yield model triggers a ticket within the hour, and every site receives an annual thermographic inspection.
